About

It’s One Big Co-op!

Our Mission

Our mission is to connect cooperative organizations together and activate individuals to collaborate in cooperation, advancing ecologically sustainable and economically equitable practices that promote health and support people to thrive.

Our Vision

We believe another future is possible: one in which individuals have full agency in their lives, organizations are oriented around meeting shared needs (instead of maximization of profit), and all members of our community works together in cooperation to create an ecologically sustainable and economically equitable society. To do so, we will need to leave behind extractive and exploitative modes of thinking and living, and we will create new ways to build a world worth living in, together.

Land Acknowledgement

The Bay Area Cooperative Association (BACA) acknowledges that it is located on the unceded ancestral homeland of many indigenous peoples including but not limited to: Ohlone (Chochenyo, Karkin, Ramaytush, Yokuts, Muwekma), Graton Rancheria community (Coast Miwok and Southern Pomo), Kashaya, Patwin, Mishewal Wappo, and Bay Miwok. Further, BACA recognizes that, as the original stewards of this land, indigenous peoples understood the interconnectedness of all things and maintained harmony with nature for millennia, and honors them for their enduring commitment to Mother Earth.
